Downtown Akron Senior Photo Session | Urban + Nature Senior Portraits
February 7, 2026aniyah | Class of 2026
Aniyah was my very first Class of 2026 senior session of the season last June, and from the very beginning, I knew her shoot was going to be something truly special. As a senior photographer, I always scout locations ahead of time, especially when a senior wants a mix of styles. Aniyah loved the idea of combining urban scenery with natural backdrops, so I carefully planned out the perfect route for her session.
Everything was mapped out… except for one thing.
Her senior portraits ended up falling on what turned out to be the hottest and most humid day of the entire year — and to this day, it remains the warmest session I’ve ever photographed!
Surprisingly, the extreme heat actually worked in our favor. Downtown Akron was completely empty, giving us full access to the city and total creative freedom. We moved quickly from shade to shade, capturing stunning images at multiple locations around the Lock 3 area. Even with the intense weather, we photographed at four incredible spots, and Aniyah’s outfits were absolutely perfect for each setting — effortlessly stylish, flattering, and full of confidence.
Downtown Akron offers endless opportunities for modern senior portraits, from vibrant murals and painted walls to textured architectural backdrops that create bold, urban images. Lock 3 Park added a softer contrast with landscaped gardens, colorful flowers, and scenic pathways — the perfect blend of city energy and natural beauty.
Aniyah also wanted to include Seiberling Nature Realm, one of the most popular senior photo locations in the Akron area. We arrived about an hour before sunset, and somehow it was even more humid than downtown — but Aniyah handled it like a total pro.
And the reward? The most magical golden summer light. That warm sunset glow created beautiful skin tones and timeless natural portraits that made the entire session unforgettable.
Aniyah was such a joy to work with. She loves reading fantasy and mystery books, is a huge Batman fan, and enjoys both Marvel and DC. She plays softball and loves watching professional softball — it’s her favorite sport. After graduation, she plans to attend the Stark State PTA program, and I know the sky is the limit for her.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your senior year, Aniyah. Keep shining and smiling, beautiful girl! 🤍
