Preparing for your Senior Session
What to Wear
I want you to look and feel your best during your session. Solid colors are always a great choice, and your outfits should reflect your personal style.
Plan to bring 2–3 outfits, ideally a mix of casual and dressy looks. Layers are a great way to add variety—adding a jacket or flannel over a t-shirt can create multiple looks without a full outfit change.
Try everything on ahead of time to make sure it fits well and feels comfortable. We’ll be moving throughout the session—walking, sitting, and posing—so you’ll want outfits that allow you to move easily.
Please avoid large logos, bold text, neon colors, and overly trendy pieces, as they can be distracting or go out of style quickly.
Don’t forget about your shoes—they will show in your photos, so make sure they’re clean and look nice.
Also, be sure your clothes are wrinkle-free, as wrinkles will show in photos and can affect your final images.
If you feel stuck or can’t decide, feel free to send me photos of your outfit options—I’m happy to help! You can also check Pinterest for inspiration.
What to Bring
Please bring:
2–3 outfits, ironed and on hangers
Any accessories or personal items you’d like to include in your session
A water bottle
Personal Touches
Feel free to bring any items you’d like to incorporate into your session. This could be a favorite book, a musical instrument, your letterman jacket, sports gear, your car, or anything that reflects your personality. These details help make your photos unique and meaningful.
You’re also welcome to include your dog or pet! If you do, please plan for them to be at the beginning or end of your session, and make sure someone is available to take care of them when they’re not in photos.
Session Details
Senior sessions typically begin about 3 hours before sunset and can last up to 2 hours. Sessions for guys are often a bit shorter.
I’ll confirm your exact start time a few days before your shoot. Before your session, we’ll connect by phone or text to go over location options and choose the best spots together.
We can usually visit 2–3 locations in one session, as long as they’re close to each other.
Final Touches
Be sure your fingernails are clean and neatly trimmed—small details like this can make a big difference in your final images.
Your Proof Gallery
You’ll receive an email with a link to your proof gallery a few days after your session. These images will be lightly edited and include a watermark.
From there, you can select your favorite images by simply marking them as favorites.
Once your selections are made, I’ll complete the final edits and deliver your high-resolution images within two weeks.
Please make your selections as soon as possible so I can deliver your final gallery in a timely manner.
Final Gallery & digital images
You’ll receive your final edited images in the same way as your proof gallery.
Once delivered, please download your photos and back them up for safekeeping.
From your gallery, you’ll have the option to order professional print products. You’re also welcome to print through a lab of your choice, but please note that I can’t guarantee print quality unless you use my professional lab.
If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just let me know! I offer custom products such as lay-flat albums, image cubes, image blocks, metal prints, and more.
I highly recommend printing your images—there’s nothing like enjoying them in your space rather than keeping them stored on a screen.
